. . . until I got it in the “SweetSpot” and that is where I would leave it. But, if I had more than one pickup in my guitar I found that when I adjusted my pickups (for the best tone) I could never leave the individual pickups in their SweetSpot because when I threw the pickup selector switch the volume from pickup to pickup would be out of balance. I finally came to realize that I needed to re-think the process used to make the pickups. I felt that I needed to figure out a way to tune the bobbins so that when the pickups were in their respective “SweetSpots” they would have a very even volume balance when I threw the pickup selector switch. I ended up making three separate bobbins for my Strat Set. All the variables in the construction of the bobbins are different from bobbin to bobbin. The difference is really noticeable when your pickups are adjusted for tone instead of volume output. The concept of tuning the bobbins is used in all the pickups we make. SweetSpot Pickups are truly the Tone Player’s pickup. Michael DeTemple |
